Nerlens Noel Team 2023

Nerlens Noel Signs with Sacramento Kings

Former Kentucky Center Returns to NBA after Brooklyn Stint

July 21st, 2023 at 2:35pm CST by Luke Adams

Former Kentucky Wildcats center Nerlens Noel has found a new home in the Sacramento Kings after signing a one-year deal with the team. Noel's signing comes after a brief stint with the Brooklyn Nets, where he inked a 10-day contract but did not play in any games.

Noel, a Brooklyn native, was drafted by the New Orleans Pelicans with the sixth overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. After spending stints with the Dallas Mavericks, Oklahoma City Thunder, and New York Knicks, he joined the Nets in March 2023.

Noel brings a wealth of experience and defensive prowess to the Kings. The 7-footer is known for his shot-blocking ability and can provide a solid presence in the paint. He averaged 5.4 points and 6.4 rebounds per game for the Nets last season.

The Kings are in need of depth at the center position following the departure of Richaun Holmes. Noel is expected to compete for minutes behind starting center Domantas Sabonis and provide the team with a reliable backup option.

Noel's signing is a positive move for both the Kings and the player. He adds a veteran presence to a young team and an opportunity to contribute to a playoff contender. Noel, in turn, gets a fresh start and a chance to showcase his skills in a competitive environment.
