Nerlens Noel Signs One-Year Contract with Sacramento Kings

Experienced Center Bolsters Kings' Frontcourt

Sacramento, California - March 6, 2023

The Sacramento Kings have signed center Nerlens Noel to a one-year contract, the team announced today. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Noel, 29, is a seven-year NBA veteran who has played for the Philadelphia 76ers, Dallas Mavericks, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Detroit Pistons. He is known for his defensive prowess, averaging 1.6 blocks per game for his career. In addition, he is a solid rebounder, averaging 6.1 rebounds per game.

"Nerlens is a tough and physical presence who will provide us with much-needed depth in our frontcourt," said Kings general manager Monte McNair. "He's a proven winner who has played in some big games, and we're excited to have him on our team."

Noel spent the first four seasons of his career in Philadelphia, where he was a key part of the team's young core. He was traded to the Mavericks in 2017 and spent two seasons there before being traded to the Thunder in 2019. He played for the Thunder for two seasons before signing with the Pistons last year.

The Kings are hoping that Noel can help them make a playoff push this season. The team is currently in 10th place in the Western Conference, but they are just 2.5 games out of the eighth and final playoff spot.

"I'm excited to be joining the Kings," said Noel. "I think we have a great team with a lot of potential, and I'm looking forward to contributing in any way I can."
