Carini pulled out of her fight against Khelif at the Paris Olympics, citing mental health issues.

In an exclusive interview, Carini opens up about the struggles she has faced and the reasons why she made the difficult decision to withdraw from the competition.

WEB Olympic boxer Angela Carini has spoken out for the first time about her decision to abandon her fight against Imane Khelif in a highly emotional interview. Carini, who is representing Italy at the Paris Olympics, pulled out of her fight against Khelif in the 66kg category on Thursday, citing mental health issues.

In an exclusive interview with The Telegraph, Carini opened up about the struggles she has faced in recent months, including dealing with the pressure of competing at the Olympics and the impact of social media on her mental health.

"I've been struggling with my mental health for a while now," Carini said. "The pressure of competing at the Olympics has been really tough, and I've been feeling really anxious and stressed."

"I've also been getting a lot of negative comments on social media, which has been really hurtful. I've been called a quitter and a disgrace, and it's really taken its toll on me."

Carini said that she made the decision to withdraw from the fight after consulting with her coaches and family.

"I knew that I wasn't in the right frame of mind to compete," she said. "I was afraid that I would embarrass myself and my country, and I didn't want to let anyone down."

Carini said that she is now focusing on her mental health and is seeking professional help.

"I'm taking things one day at a time," she said. "I'm seeing a therapist and I'm working on getting better."

Carini said that she hopes that her story will help others who are struggling with mental health issues.

"It's important to remember that you're not alone," she said. "There are people who care about you and want to help.

"If you're struggling, please reach out for help."
