Marriage and Family

Governor Brian Kemp has been married to Marty Argo since 1986. Marty is the daughter of longtime Georgia House of Representatives member Bob Argo. Together, they have three adult daughters and live on their family farm in Athens, Georgia.

Early Life and Career

Brian Kemp was born in Athens, Georgia in 1963. He is a graduate of the University of Georgia and the University of Georgia School of Law. After completing his education, Kemp worked as a lawyer in private practice. In 2003, he founded a small business that provides construction and consulting services.

Political Career

Kemp entered politics in 2002 when he was elected to the Georgia State Senate. He served in the Senate until 2007, when he was elected Secretary of State of Georgia. Kemp served as Secretary of State until 2018, when he was elected Governor of Georgia. As Governor, Kemp has signed into law a number of conservative policies, including a "heartbeat" bill that bans abortions after six weeks.

Personal Interests and Values

Kemp is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. He is also a strong supporter of the military and has worked to increase funding for veterans programs. Kemp is a devout Christian and believes that faith is the foundation of a strong family and a successful life.
