Early Life and Education

Born in Yamaguchi, Japan in 1967, Kazunori Fujimoto's architectural career began with his education at the prestigious Tokyo Institute of Technology. After graduating, he worked for renowned Japanese architect Kazuyo Sejima before establishing his own firm, Kazunori Fujimoto Architect Associates, in 2000.

Innovative Designs and Concrete Focus

Fujimoto's architectural style is characterized by its innovative use of materials, particularly concrete. His designs often feature geometric forms and open spaces, creating a sense of lightness and transparency. One notable example is his "House NA," which employs large corner windows to blur the boundaries between indoors and outdoors.

In collaboration with Andrea Ferri Structural, Fujimoto has also explored the structural potential of concrete. Together, they have designed buildings that push the limits of concrete's strength and flexibility.

Recognition and Awards

Fujimoto's exceptional work has earned him numerous awards and accolades, including:

  • Golden Lion at the 2012 Venice Architecture Biennale
